Go Haynesville Shale

He says under pressure from a Petrohawk executive. Berman, always one to draw ire from our local GoHaynseville experts has been very bearish on shale gas decline rates, especially those in our very own and beloved play. Where he gets his information to compare to producers we have yet to see. He was called out by several of our local experts through email exchange.

It is safe to say that the major players are well past the stock selling stage when it comes to the Haynesville Shale. One of his decline projections was destroyed, being that the well made more gas in a little over a few months than it would have in a lifetime based on Mr. Berman's estimate..

When it comes to the viability and total recovery of Haynesville wells I will bank with those who have invested billions and bet their entire corporate future's right here in the Haynesville play. While no one would want any voice of dissent silenced, Berman, instead of re-evalutaing his earlier statements on shale gas declines he has decided to circle the wagons and follow up bad information with indignance.

John the Geologist:
My reference to Schlumberger and Tudor Pickering is that they have both performed analysis on the horizontal completions in NW La and they have predicted much higher EUR's than the Berman analysis. I hope this clears up my reference. I only have 30 years experience in E & P so maybe I am not qualified in your eyes.

I can only speculate on his cause. First of all, in any matter of discussion, contrarians are popular because people want to hear what they have to say. One can make a living going around the country speaking to special interest groups as long as no one asks hard questions that require production facts. Since he is not a true "exploration geologist" with industry experience I don't think he falls into the large group of old time geologists that are livid at the shale companies because they took away their Pettit, Glen Rose, Cotton Valley, etc. playground. And they can't ever get another shallow deal done until the shale goes away.

intresting commentary jay , on the old time geos, that is. i was enquiring just yesterday who was holding my shallow rights and it turned into a 45 minute conversation with a field engineer and the complaint was just about the same, except they still own 50% working intrest in all depths in my lease.i guess that should afford him some office time for a long time. lol

i have read ALL of the berman bashings on here and i think you guys have done a great job of silencing his propaganda. it's amazing how someone like that can gain so much influence.

My rants are not bashings per se. I just believe we are very early in the game. He believes the wells will have EURS of 1.5 BCF. I disagree. But the scoreboard will tell us a few years down the road. By the way, I know of a lot of horizontals (the only ones that should be counted) that made more than 1.5 BCF in their first year of production.

Didn't Berman use some verticals in his data set? Which would be unforgiveably deceptive if true.

Yes. His favorite is the Spring Ridge discovery vertical well.

Jay,
Can you give me the name of the Spring Ridge discovery well? Is it in 15N, 15W? If so, what section?
Thanks!

I've posted this on a previous discussion re: Mr. Berman, but my speculation is that he has a secret identity as "Frosty The Coal Man" from the American Clean Coal Coalition's PR Campaign from last Christmas season:
