I know several of the group members are landmen, but I'm not sure what others do. I thought it might be helpful to find out a bit more about our fellow group members.
I'm an environmental consultant that works primarily with oil and gas companies but occassionally landowners. My work includes BLM permitting, wetlands, water acquistion, waste disposal, water well monitoring, NORM, LDAR, SPCC, spill response, sound, and other environmental issues.
I'm pleased with the development of the shale in my back yard, as it gives me a chance to work close to home.

Permalink Reply by Simon on December 9, 2010 at 4:12pm My name is Ben Elmore. I am a lawyer specializing in Texas oil and gas law. My family also owns minerals in East and South Texas. I represent landowners and some companies in oil and gas litigation. I also help landowners in negotiating oil and gas leases. I joined because I want to learn more about the issues landowners and professionals are facing in the field. I am originally from Jasper, Texas and have a lot of ties to East Texas. I've made it a goal of mine to help landowners where I can, as in the oil and gas legal world, they are most often out-gunned and out-resourced. If you are interested, here is a link to my bio on my firm's website. I am currently with Watt, Beckworth in Houston. http://www.wattbeckworth.com/elmore.htm I look forward to being a part of the group. Happy Holidays to all.

Permalink Reply by Bryan Brennion on February 5, 2011 at 3:52pm My name is Benn Bundy, and I am new to the site and the O & G business. I am a 20-year commercial/industrial real estate broker from Beaumont who now lives in Sabine County with my wife and two sons on her family's 70-acre farmstead. We are still not leased, as my mother-in-law held out too long when Devon came through two years ago. But, that is my wife's project.
I am still selling real estate, land mostly, to O&G service companies arriving in the area, and some timber/recreation land. My specialty is negotiating large, difficult commercial transactions, so if I can help you at all, see my web site and past clients at www.bbundy.com.
Primarily, though, I am now representing, as business development partner, a young company whose laboratory has developed a line of GREEN, certified NON-TOXIC, frac fluids, frac additives, acids, and other drilling and stimulation fluids. They also are MARGINAL WELL stimulation specialists, for which they use a particular sonic tool developed and used to great success in Canada.
My goal for the month is to find the owners of as many groupings of marginal wells in the Panola County area as I can. This is proving to be challenging, as I haven't yet mastered the RRC web site, and my contact base is thin.
My goal for next month is to convince one of the major independents to consider using one of our green frac additives on one or more of the new gas wells in the area.
Thanks to all the professionals in this group who might consider sharing tips with this neophyte.
Permalink Reply by Paul M. Hess on March 10, 2011 at 1:05pm Welcome to the group, Benn. We are glad to have you aboard. Per Keith Mauck, the site creator, we are about sharing information and educating as much as possible with all who enter. One of the rules is no personal advertising. The site does have an advertising section and you would need to consult with Keith about that! Other than that, welcome and hope you learn a lot and enjoy your membership.
I think I have been a little slack in this so for all who have done so, or are thinking about any kind of advertising of services, etc., please contact Keith as to where you can. Thanks!
Paul,
Thanks for the heads up on the advertising. It is kind of a fine line, for sure.
I assume it is okay to contact a member about their professional knowledge? Many of the attorneys have their firm's web sites as links.
Thank you.
Permalink Reply by Paul M. Hess on March 10, 2011 at 4:19pm Sure, contact any of the members with specific questions, or post them as a discussion under this group if it relates to the industry, geology, engineering or land. I am sure many will be happy to respond. Just be sure to peruse the other groups and topic areas before starting a new discussion just to avoid redundancies.
It is a fine line what to consider advertising and as I mentioned, I had been a bit slack as the group monitor. I believe a web site mentioned might be ok, but any solicitation or offering of services, etc. is not. All of us will get excited about something and slipup now and then, including me. The site is primarily for sharing of info and learning from each other to make all members a bit more knowledgeable of oil & gas and the activities going on in the group areas. Hope we will get to help you along your way!

AboutAs exciting as this is, we know that we have a responsibility to do this thing correctly. After all, we want the farm to remain a place where the family can gather for another 80 years and beyond. This site was born out of these desires. Before we started this site, googling "shale' brought up little information. Certainly nothing that was useful as we negotiated a lease. Read More |
