Perhaps the forum members could turn their attention and think of a way to convince industry gas producers to unify in an effort to not produce any gas for 30 days.  The net effect would drastically improve prices by a significant multiple without any cost to the producers.  Consequently, stock holders would benefit as would private producers as well as all royalty owners throughout the country.

There must be some platform for discussion of unity amongst gas producers that would create interest for some type of scenario which would ultimately benefit everyone who truly wants to see an improvement in natural gas prices!

10 seconds after they made that agreement, they then can pack their bags for a nice 5 year paid vacation at a federal country club prison.

Once domestic NG production from unconventional reservoirs surpasses 50% of total production energy companies will have the ability to better balance supply to demand.  The high initial production rate, quick decline characteristics of unconventional gas will create the ability to adjust production not possible with lower initial production, longer life conventional gas.

The requirement to HBP leasehold has led to drilling a high percentage of non-commercial wells and a supply glut.  However it is just that glut and the resulting perception of long term price stability that is allowing NG to become the fuel of choice for a multitude of uses.

What do producers in the gulf do when a hurricane is imminent?  Similar situation except it's been a series of economic storms for natural gas producers for several years.

Surely there are subtle ways that industry could achieve the goal of improved gas prices (without the pinstripes)!

they would possible lose some wells by shut-in and pipelines would have problems-- would not be economical to do that

besides they just draw from storage. the coal miners would love it though
