As long as you don't start looking like Conan, you'll be okay Teddy. LOL! I too have been wondering about the lack of activity on the group page. Had any luck in recruiting some members to do Clerk of Court drive-by checks?

IANAG,( I Am Not A Geologist). LOL! All the SMK plays that I am aware of are "conventional" reservoirs, not "unconventional". Just because someone drills a horizontal in the SMK don't make it an "unconventional" play.

So is this officially a new play? The Lower Smackover?

I believe that some companies occasionally use a smaller company to drill a test well in an attempt to keep a prospect confidential. It's just as likely that a small operator drills a prospect and discovers a potential play that they unable to take full advantage of themselves so they bring in a larger company in a joint venture agreement. The Haynesville Shale Play was discovered in the electric logs of existing wells. Many consider the first well to be drilled specifically as a Haynesville well to be Chesapeake's HA RA SUA;SRLT 29 (234022) permitted 8/25/2006, spud 9/16/2006 and completed 3/2/2007. I prefer the Encana JUR RA SUA; Adcock Inv LP Etal (232697) permitted 1/12/2006 and spud 2/27/2006. 11/16/2006 it was reported as code 27 (Waiting On Orders) and converted to an "Observation Well" status code 31 (Shut In - Dry Hole - Future Utility) 1/26/2007. Since 1/27/2007, it's last report date, it remains a code 27. From spud to final status report - 364 days. It has never been completed.

Greystone is a well established company. Bascally they are an exploration company and have concentrated on larger potential wildcat projects of late. By nature those kind of projects are riskier and tend to result in dry holes. At some point they'll find something that will pay for the dry holes and actually make some money. It's the way the business works. But I digress, the plays they have drilled preceeded the Haynesville and Lower Smackover plays frenzy.

Thanks for the correction, North LA. I find it interesting however that Greystone (G179) has no producing (Code 10) wells. And more expired permits than those few currently in force. They do however have a nice presentation. Thanks for the link. Maybe they can complete a producing well next year.

Skip,

Greystone Oil and Gas LLP is an operator in LA.

There org ID is
G179

They have drilled 13 wells in LA and none are producing. They bought the old Sligo field about 10 years ago but were bought out by Chesapeake. I don't know if they still work under or with Chesapeake or not?
