Texas Upper Gulf Coast Counties

Austin, Brazoria, Brazos, Burleson, Chambers, Colorado, Fayette, Fort Bend, Galveston, Grimes, Hardin, Harris, Jasper, Jefferson, Lee, Madison, Matagorda, Montgomery, Newton, Orange, Polk, San Jacinto, Trinity, Tyler, Walker, Washington & Wharton.

Some of these counties are also included in the Eagle Ford (North) Group because of shale development but the main targets in this region for the last couple of years appears to have been in either the Austin Chalk fields or in the Yegua/Cook Mountain.

Everyone is welcome.  If you want to talk about another formation or type of development that I haven't mentioned, please, feel free to open a discussion.

Anything happening in Houston County? Seems like all is quiet.

I added Walker County to the list of counties in District 3.  I just missed it...  sorry about that.  That's where the new SM Energy permit (Horizon Properties #1H) is that dbob posted a few days ago.

dbob,

Sorry dbob when I said "micro" all I was saying it was a very small shoot compared to the huge county wide intrusive shoot they did back in 2007

Dry Hole

I thought micro seismic was more passive listenting down boreholes during a frac (to see propogation). Dunknow. sounds like more of a regular seismic shoot - any chance you've seen cables crossing the road in that area over the last week.

Boscoe,dbob

Believe someone shot a short string of micro seismic in the Pearson Chapel (Houston Co.) area this morning as I was outside and could hear and FEEL the few charges going off with a couple minutes delay between each shot.  Would they do this for a look down the horz leg most likely ?

Thanks for the info, Mike. Will do. We were leased in Clawson with Southwestern up until a couple of years back. I wasn't sure if their interest was related to the Travis Peak and James Lime action around Pollok or if they were considering the area prospective for Haynesville/Bossier. It will be interesting to see if there is further seismic action around us.  You, Bosco, and dbob seem on target with your assessments--we may have to wait it out to see what happens on H/B exploration. Ironically, my late parents left us a small royalty interest of about 7/10 acre in the Haynesville "sweet spot" over in San Augustine and Shelby Co, so we hopefully will get in on a little piece of the action if XTO ever gets their act together on the two wells they completed late last year.

Thanks for doing this research, Bosco. This was new info to me. Hopefully the Leor activity will pay off and encourage a closer look at this whole area--if we can get gas prices up!

Tom, I havwe attached a plat of your area in Angelina. the Southernmost yellow dot is your Abstract, and all the other dots are wells. It looks like there is some very good glen rose production just north of you.Angelina.bmp

These wells make up to 4.5 BCF, which is good for a vertical hole!!

Some, but very few wells are serioulsy damaged in completion. I dont have the facts on this well and it could be true. You seem to be in the hunt for glen rose. You are quite a distance from the Leor well, but if the Leor well turns out to be a monster......a rising tide lifts all boats!!

Bosco, our property north of the Neches in Angelina is very close to a vertical wildcat that Chevron drilled back in 1982 that was reported as 16002 feet (In A-36, JB Palbador). It was dry holed, but a neighbor who worked for the drilling co. claimed that they thought it would be a successful well, but was damaged when they tried to complete. Don't know if this is correct or any actual specifics about formations or well data, but I've wondered how it would relate to the Leor well which is SW and deeper.
