Hey Marion Co. I am new to the forum and was wondering what (if any) leasing or drilling might be going on in the county.

Just across the state line the offers on behalf of Anadarko are 9/40ths (22.5%) royalty and a bonus of $500.  With patience and time, you may be able to get the same.

I received a call from Dixon Services to lease 9 ac minerals in Samuel Jeffries Survey A-213

west of Jefferson near Lassater for $200 ac, 1/5 override, and 3 yr term w/2yr option.

Apparently it is Anadarko Drilling. This per ac seems a bit low and I would not want to sign

for 2 yr option. Does anyone else have an offer in the area and if so what is the deal?

Ayanna Sanders,

I have signed two oil/gas leases near Lodi, and Smithland, Marion county since August, 2011. Both were for a decimal interest of .20% or 1/5th.  I would say the royalty interest is not negotiable, but let us talk about the signing bonus dollars.

Since they are experienced and local they may have good, non-public information but looking at their website I'd say they are speculating in leases.  Their interest may be a good sign for your area but their offer is not even in the ball park.

Has anyone ever heard of Petro Shore?

They have approached me with an offer to lease at $100/acre and an 8th royalty in Marion County. I know that this is a low offer even in the current market, but there hasn't been too much activity before now. Is this a middle/holding company or a legitimate entity? And should I take this offer seriously?

Does anyone have any information about the drilling that may be occurring in Marion County? I heard that there were a lot of people coming in to look at potential there.
