John Brewster commented on Andrew's blog post How Low Can It Go? Questions From Those Who Can't Believe the Commodity Prices on Their Royalty Statement
"A royalty owner can, and should, request a break down of the deductions from the price, especially when the price seems low.  The owner may not be qualified to know whether those deductions were legal under the terms of the lease, but at…"

"Our family are also involved in real estate and timber.  I reject any suggestion that people who own different kinds of real property are less sophisticated.  I have spent my career on both sides of leasing.  I only come to this site…"

"Humble folks includes me and my family.  I am a substantial mineral owner, so your retraction is accepted.  The fact is, I personally know many farmers and ranchers, hard-working, middle class people (humble is a good Christian trait, not…"

"Well, there are thousands of people for whom that has been the case . . . all over the country.  The Arbuckle play in SE Oklahoma in the late 1980s was one I was involved in.  Humble folks made hundreds of thousands of dollars, some…"

"FYI: There is nothing sinister about dramatic changes in lease offers over time, especially when the terms improve consistent with drilling activity making the minerals more valuable.  Equally, in hot plays like Marcellus, independent landmen…"

John Brewster replied to Skip Peel- Independent Landman's discussion SWN UPCOMING GOLDMAN SACHS PRESENTATION in the group Brown Dense Lower Smackover
"New Ventures activity came up in the last 4 minutes.  SWN has three primary areas: Brown Dense, Baaken, and DJ Basin in Colorado.  There are now 6 wells in the Brown Dense - 2 are on production.  He said the last one is better, but…"

"I haven't seen the movie, and will not do so.  However, I would like to offer an honest answer to your question - which seems to be sincere.  What are you implying?  What is "the game of intentionally not leasing…"

John Brewster commented on nick waters's blog post Top 5 Best and Worst of the Oil and Gas Operating Companies
"This strikes me as an example of a silly subject in the sense that most comments provide no meaningful information to mineral owners and royalty owners.  In most instances, mineral owners deal with third party landmen who represent the…"

"Note Skip's posting - the plaintiff appears to be a "straw man" entity.  Just reading the article, it looks like an ambulance chaser's lawsuit.  My understanding, and it is not authoritative, is that Aubrey purchased a…"

"As Henry says in his July 17 post, and this applies to all of you who expree displeasure with CHK, why are you unhappy? You will get nowhere with CHK, a lawyer (my profession), or a state AG, if you cannot articulate a legitimate complaint. While…"

I'll send it tomorrow.  I of course want the well to be part of the play, since it's just over a mile from my family's property.

John - Thanks.  I've got a copy of the permit at my office and will look at it.  I'll e-mail it to you if you'd like; lemme know.  I just assumed that that well is part of the play given its depth and the fact that it's planned to be horizontal.
