One average American would need a large number of trees to offset his personal carbon footprint. You have to plant new trees as the old ones die. You can't use the timber for anything else when you're done. You can't make paper or use it in buildi…

Bossier Residents Cash in on the Haynesville Shale

Some Bossier Parish residents could become $8,000 dollars richer. Many Dogwood South community members have decided to sign over their mineral rights to cash in on the Haynesville Shale. People who live in area say their Homeowners Association made a deal with Twin Cities Development. They tell KTAL if 90 percent of their community members sign over their rights each resident who signs will receive more than $8,000 per acre. One resident says he recently signed his name on the dotted line. Mark… Continue

NATCHITOCHES: Hundreds attend Haynesville Shale forum

NATCHITOCHES -- There's one certainty concerning the Haynesville Shale and Natchitoches Parish: No one knows if the potentially-mammoth natural gas deposit even reaches that far.

That uncertainty didn't prevent more than 600 people from attending a Wednesday night information forum with representatives from the Louisiana Oil and Gas Association, a non-profit that represents the independent and service sectors of the oil and gas industry in Louisiana.

Residents of Natchitoches Parish filled the… Continue

I'm glad I found this site, and I agree that communication and info sharing can be beneficial. We've had land near the Ark state line in Bossier for over a century. I'm hoping it's in the area, because it seems to be right on the Northern line according to the map. Some of it was leased years ago, but I think that lease was really a low-ball deal.
An decent offer on the unleased land could be a good opportunity for the heirs.

I hope that people will take the opportunity to openly share their knowledge and the offers that they are getting. It seems that the mineral companies want to put the blinders on us all so that we won't know the potential and then they won't have to pay higher prices for the leases. If we all open up and communicate then we can all move forward with greater understanding.

This will be a great place to share what's going on down here - thanks for setting this up.

We're expecting a couple bids, the 2nd one bigger than the first, but are playing the waiting game right now. What's happening with others out there???
