We live in California and believe me the laws in Louisiana are much different .After much prayer we were blessed to find a excellent succession attorney on Shrevport by the name of GORDON BARTAGE he lead us thru the process… Continue

freddie. I have no idea if Mr. Clark is currently affiliated with the East 80 group or even whether the group still exists. My comment concerning Mr. Clark was prompted by the statement suggesting that natural gas could be transported from a well in trucks. Such a thought is absurd in the extreme and anyone who makes such a statement, as Mr. Clark did in the past, exposes the fact that they are not sufficiently knowledgeable to be representing others regarding their mineral estates.

Freddie, Be sure you know what these folks are offering. They are in the business of acquiring minerals and royalties. Do not confuse them with Southwestern Energy, a very capable shale operator. Other than that I can't say, without seeing a copy of the offer, how I would respond to them. Glad to help if I can.

The record of ownership should be on file at the Bossier Clerk of Court's office. If you will send me the name of the family member who you received your interest through, I will check to see if there is a judgement of possession on file. If it's no older than 25 years or so, it should be included in the Clerk's on line database. The Office of Conservation will not be able to help you in regard to ownership of minerals.

I believe you might can get one from someplace like Ridgways in downtown
Shreveport or maybe Caddo Abstract. I use to work for the Assessor in Caddo and we had old maps of Caddo Parish we got from the Police Jury, now the Parish Commission, maybe try each parish and get them by Parish.
Somewhere on this site they talked about getting one off of Sonris, but I never knew how to do that.

Mr. Webb,
Due to state budget cuts, the Dept. of Revenue has closed its local office so the certificate verifying that there is no inheritance tax owed from the succession will need to come from Baton Rouge--which takes approximately 30 days from when they receive it. I mailed the papers down there a few weeks ago. Once I get the certificate, I will proceed with having the succession filed with the court.
Sincerely,

Gordon Bartage
