From his press release

"Unfortunately, proposals to regulate greenhouse gasses by the Environmental Protection Agency could threaten our continued economic progress. Last week I wrote to the Administrator of the EPA in Washington to object to their new proposals, which would have a chilling effect on refining and production capability in Louisiana and force employers to reduce their workforces or even possibly move their businesses to other countries. We need sensible solutions to the nation's environmental challenges, but this proposed regulatory scheme should not be imposed unilaterally without even a chance for Congressional input."

Thanks, dts. I've worked my way back on the economic trail thinking about my initial reaction. Funding comes from economic activity, economic activity comes from goods & services, goods & services are bought & paid for when folks have jobs ... So, could we use some jobs here in LA on some federal lands?

I looked up this map to see how much fed land there is here in LA and gauge how much this decision just might impact us. I've decided to tone down the attitude on Bobby J. for now because, guess where a lot of fed land is here? Smack dab in the middle of HS country.

Now, I'm not saying we should allow the "pillage & plunder" strategy to our public/fed lands, I'll always advocate an informed & balanced approach. Besides, gas prices are just now coming up, still got gobs of gas in storage, can't drill/produce much during "Climate Change aka Arctic Blasts," the Russians don't seem to be sneaking in with their LNG to threaten our security right now ... sooo, we've got a little time to consider this.

Ditto, Sesport, I wish he were as tuned in to state and local issues as he is with the GOP national platform. Isn't he a governor?

It would be nice if he were just as concerned about funding cuts to education, especially higher ed. Without investment in that, we don't really have the knowledgeable workforce to attract employers anyway. The employers will just bring their people with them, and if they're not from "happy states" like us ... well ... there goes the neighborhood. 80P
