Attached are three slides from the recent Anadarko Investor Conference that depict their plans for continued development of the Haynesville Shale and Cotton Valley potential in Panola County.

 

The production includes oil/condensate, natural gas and natural gas liquids.

Jay, some of Anadarko's wells produced oil/condensate from the Haynesville Shale during the initial well test.  This was similar to some of the far north wells in the Haynesville Shale in Louisiana at the shallower depth.  It looks as though the natural gas produced from the Haynesville Shale in this area is richer and is delivered to DCP Midstream for recovery of natural gas liquids.   

let me see if I can dig up some of the completion reports.

Production data shows Anadarko produced 51,000 bbls of condensate and 33,000,000 mcf of gas from the Carthage (Cotton Valley) in Panola County in 2011.  

Production from the Haynesville listed as 1,839,000 mcf with no oil or condensate.  Obviously, this data from the RCT misses any NGL, but the slides do look misleading...

dbob, most of the wells were completed recently and may not yet be showing up in the production reports.

If you al will remember back about a year ago when I heard from a friend who had a close friend who worked for Anadarko who swore then that Anadarko had a process to get liquids & some oil out of the Haynesville Shale. I posted it on here.Everyone thought that was impossible as the Haynesville was a dry gas field. Now a yr. later we are seeing these results. Makes me realize that the guy who worked for Anadarko then knew what he was talking about. Not long after that, he wouldn't even talk about it

Hale Yayuh, probably because a confidential discussion with a friend was, in turn, whispered to yet another friend and ended up on the internet for all the world to see.  This is, however, very, very interesting news!  

KCM, you are right that most people were skeptical about condensate/oil being produced from the Haynesville Shale but I recall some of us kept an open mind about the possibility of such production in certain areas of the play.  For example some early Haynesville Shale wells in the northern edge of the play in Louisiana produced condensate with the natural gas.   

Les, I rememner you were open minded about what I posted & said it was possible that there would be some liquids coming out of the Haynesville. I forgot about that until this topic was posted. Will be interesting to see more reports. Have any other companies--other than Anadarko--posted any liquids or oil from Haynesville, especially in Caddo or Desoto

I think I was one of the naysayers.  Mea Culpa.  The gas analysis I've seen from various wells has always indicated very dry gas, although I've never seen gas analysis from an Anadarko well.   Anyone got BTU data or info on the NGL production rates from this gas?  

KCM, I learned many years ago to never say never because I have been proven wrong too many times.

 

I have seen several companies including Petrohawk, Diamond Oil, Endeavor, Matador, BP, Devon, Forest, NFR & Penn Virginia report a handfull of wells that produced condensate with the natural gas from the Haynesville Shale but none to the extent of Anadarko.  These wells generally were early tests in the northern edge of the Haynesville Shale play where the formation is shallower.
