Me too. They're not the first to get stuck.

SONRIS report of 8/20/2013:

8/17/13, SET 9 5/8" CASING AT 9655' WITH 3018 SACKS OF CEMENT. 8/18/13, RE-TEST BOP. 8/19/13, DRILLED OUT CEMENT LEFT IN PIPE.

I see they are using 13 5/8" surface casing and 9 5/8" intermediate casing, as SWN did for the Dean vertical, instead of the more usual 10 3/4" surface casing and 7 5/8" intermediate casing. I wonder if there is any significance to this.

I would say this may set up a different type of horizontal drilling application. They didn't go to all the extra expense for hole and larger pipe just because...there is a plan. Just remember this is a huge science experiment at this time, still.

Hey Obed, how about this explanation: The pipe yard manager says to the new kid "I don't care what you do with it, I'm tired of all that bigger pipe laying around cluttering up the pipe yard, find a place to put it so that I never see it again!"

08/26/13: 9877' & CORING.

Also, after making my previous comment about 9 5/8" intermediate casing being used in the Tom Rosa, I looked back at some more SWN wells in the LSBD, and it seems that both 9 5/8" and 7 5/8" intermediate casing have been used, with about equal frequency.

In addition to the TOM-ROSA CORPORATION #1 ANKOR E&P HOLDINGS has two deep vertical exploratory wells nearing TD in Escambia County, AL just NE of Mobile.

Update from SONRIS Lite on the ANKOR Tom-Rosa well:

9/3/13, 10160' AND CORING.

Update  from SONRIS Lite on the ANKOR Tom-Rosa well:

9/9/2013,  10,309' & LOGGING

Looks like ANKOR is about ready to begin perforating and fracking in the Tom-Rosa well, having reached total depth, set 5 1/2" casing, and installed swellable packers:

9-27-13 Status 31

As we know, SWN has classified several wells in Union Parish as Status 31 and then completed them, so it seems to be just a ploy to allow the operator not to report results for a while.
