Thanks Mr Aubrey and G Meaux.

Heard a rumor that SWN is planning to do seismograph work covering 191 sections????? Is this old news??  I assume this is Union Parish.....any possibility this could move up into Union County???

I do know there planning a 3d shoot in the area. I have not heard how many sections, but it's big. They offered 5$ an acre..mmm pppffff not! The pine straw from my trees is worth more than that.

dd are you under lease to SWN? What do you think would be a fair price per acre for a 3D shoot.

Yea to swn, I'm thinking $15.
Plus damages

I have thought about this before and concluded that I would probably give them a free hand in a new play but not on damages. I think that if they would set my pine straw on fire or screwed up my water well that I would want full compensation and then some. Most of the time 3-D doesn't do any harm to the surface. The 3-D will help to maybe catapult the Brown Dense to a higher level on the charts. Everyone wants to make a few bucks but good production is the key to large checks. You have to explore with horizontal wells to make this play work. There are not that many horizontal wells. Faults can kick a formation up or down by 500 feet. There are lots of big hills up there that could be surface signs of faults. I am not a geologist.

I had Kingfisher Explorations Services (out of Arkansas) contact me a couple weeks ago verifying my ownership of land and mailing address. My land is in Union Parish. So far I haven’t heard anything else to date.

Has anyone heard of a land owner possibly going in a joint venture with a drilling company and the drilling company takes a percent

Chris, land owners occasionally band together in an attempt to attract an energy company to explore and hopefully develop their minerals.   You would need some thousands of acres, lease terms favorable to the company and a compelling geological target(s).  It's better to be a lessor than a working interest in any wells unless you have lots of money that you are willing to risk.

They are pushing hard for us to renew our lease. Old lease does not run out till Oct. But they went up 200.00 dollars per acre this time and want us to sign new lease ASAP.

What is your township range and section?

Ahh some movement perhaps, SWN has filed to dissolve the Coby Smackover A Sand, Corney Bayou Field. Many of these wells have not produced in a long time and are shallower than the Dense. This action would open the door to future unitization as it relates to the Dense in the "pressure fairway". Keep em turning to the right!
