Hope this isn't too off topic as I searched and didn't see anything. Curious what the going rate for a hunting lease on timbered acreage is going for in NW Louisiana? Thanks. And feel free to relocate this. I can't see the group option on the phone.

Skip, do you help any people with negotiating their leases? I have 380 acres in Tangipahoa parish just south of Kentwood. It was leased to Devon, now they are gone and lease was up in June or July.

Greg, I have previously provided research and lease negotiation strategy for the owner of a much larger mineral acreage in NE Tangipahoa Parish.  Most of my work is for those who own large interests and for that reason I usually work in concert with their O&G attorney.  You send me a "friend" request and when accepted by me you will have access to my personal GHS page where you will find my off site email address.

The "Fishing and Hunting Group" is all blank when I pull it up....?

$4.25/acre + proof of hunting insurance + signed agreement (renewed each year) = hunting lease.

Make sure your hunting lease agreement protects you and your property.

Max,

You have to join the group to be able to see the posts. That's what I have had to do in a couple of groups that I wanted to view the posts in.

Haha, yeah, I got the same thing with that group then signed up and it all showed up.  Not very active though.  Thanks for the info, much appreciated.

It just needs a few members to start posting in it regularly and others will come out of the woodwork.  I don't hunt much other than turkey these days but do I bass fish on Toledo Bend quite a bit.

The going rate around Huntsville, TX for a hunting lease is $7-10/acre and the terms can get burdensome, like being required to  put in food plots you don't want, limits on the number of guns on any given day, etc.

In SW Arkansas, rates seem to be around $6/acre + proof of liability insurance ($1 million, ideally).

Usually there are provisos about lessees obeying all game laws, no permanent stands attached to timber, and sometimes more active things like maintaining food plots and boundary markings, use of dogs, etc.

I believe that J. Wayne Fears wrote a book on hunting leases; cannot recall title but I'll check my bookshelf and get back to you in a day or two.

The Texas A&M Real Estate Center is a good source of leasing info.

Thanks everyone.  Appreciate the info. Try this link for the TAMU Hunting Lease info.
