IT MUST BE TRUE, I READ IT ON THE INTERNET or THE DIRTY LITTLE SECRET OF PAY TO TOUT ENERGY BLOGGERS?

I read a lot of Internet reports every day.  And I read Internet reports that members post in our discussions.  We sometimes make light of   the claims made in those reports.  In the past we have done so in regard to Mainland Resources and their Mississippi "Haynesville Shale Play" announcements.  I'm not going to pick on Cohen Research or OilVoice or Jurassic Exploration or any of the other companies that, IMO, tout energy companies and their wonderful prospects for pay.  I do wish to hear the opinion of other members and to point out that much of what is circulating around out there as facts is more public relations spin than truth.  Any energy company with a spare $40,000 or more can get Cohen or another touter/PR firm to write and disseminate glowing reports on how wonderful an investment opportunity they represent.  Even Black Dragon (discussed in the north Caddo Group).  The following Mainland announcement is the first that I have noticed that admits the relationship and the cost of a surrogate promoter.

A question for those members "in the business" who deal with "analysis", would you agree with this statement?

Cohen Independent Research Group, Inc. is the Gold Standard of fundamental securities analysis and considered Wall Street's #1 Independent Research Firm.
Skip, is this the company that is on Tomball Parkway( Also known as Hgw. 249) near Willowbrook Mall in Houston (North West Harris County)?
MARG. That sounds right. Mainland Resources lists it's physical address on their website as:

20333 SH 249, Suite 200
Houston, TX. 77070
I'm gad to see you shine a little 'light of day' on this, Skip! Taking everything you read with a grain, or two, of salt is still recommended.
I agree
I like to make a buck on a good stock, I just hate to bet on a natural born loser. Whether they make the sell out or not.
The original Cohen Mainland Resources report is being picked up by the penny stock bloggers who put their own spin and emphasis on it. Here is the Wall St. Grand Report version:

Company: Mainland Resources Inc. (OTCBB: MNLU)
Alert PPS: $1.60
Website: http://www.mainlandresources.com

MNLU had breaking news today that Cohen Independent Research, the #1 Small Cap Research Report firm, gave MNLU a Strong Short Term Buy Rating and set a $5.81 price target!

This is a huge bullish catalyst! If MNLU were to go to Cohen's price target of $5.81 this would be a gain of 252% for investors! Now I don't know if MNLU will go this high or not but we do think it has the potential to make a nice short term run for some solid gains to cash in on!

This validates MNLU's upside potential for the short term!
I strongly suspect that there is shale in Mississippi. And though it isn't the Haynesville to my knowledge, it could be productive. One thing you don't hear any more out of Mainland is how their Mississippi "Haynesville Shale" is 1000' thick. If there was substance to their claims I would expect that their glowing Internet reports would have brought them a joint venture partner with some shale development experience by now. I suspect that they are more in search of gullible investors.
Anybody ever tried to sell a Haynevsille Bridge?
Or maybe "Haynesville Ocean front property" in Louisiana?
BD - At least we won't be accused of building a "Haynesville Bridge to Nowhere," and it could be argued that IF there is a POSSIBILITY of ocean levels rising, we could sell that ocean front property based on SPECULATIVE indications & predicitions.

lol 80)
I scanned the report but did not see any information on the location of the reported find in Mississippi. Did I miss something?
I don't recall a mention of location in this report, Bud. This is an old joke as the Mainland announcements and those of their partners in the deal are not new. You can probably find the location information if you would go to Mainland Resources website.
