‘Somali Pirates In Discussion To Acquire Citibank’

The Tudor, Pickering, Holt & Co. Securities Inc. research team has picked the pirates for this week’s edition of Friday Humor in their daily e-note. “Modern-day Jack Sparrow (OK, Captain Jack Sparrow)?” they ask. “It isn’t often that solid execution of a plan is a big negative, but this is a clear case of ‘dog catching car.’”

Earlier this week, Somali pirates hijacked a Saudi Arabian oil tanker offshore Kenya. The tanker contains some $100 million worth of crude oil, and the pirates want $25 million to release it.

In today’s global crisis, here’s something to rally around, and is easily understood. Pirates take things for keeps or for ransom. That’s what they do. There are no CDSs, mortgage-backed securities, TARPS and such to work it out. Want a supertanker? Here’s a supertanker, and give me $25 million. Simple.

The TPH team provide these potential headlines of the unfolding story: Somali Pirates Apply To Become Bank To Access TARP; Paulson: TARP Pirate Equity Is An ‘Investment,’ Will Pay Off; Kashkari Says ‘Somali Pirates Are ‘Fundamentally Sound;’ Moody’s Upgrades Somali Pirates To AAA; HUD Says Somali Dhow Foreclosure Program Had ‘Very Low’ Participation; Somali Pirates In Discussion To Acquire Citibank; and, lastly…Fed Officials: Aggressive Easing Would Cut Somali Pirate Risk.

The team opines, “Kudos to the pirates for thinking big…but demerits for thinking too big as this won’t end well.” Their investment rating for the Somali pirate business is Strong Sell.

i can't get on SONRIS and I'm bored. So I thought I would share this article from my favorite O&G web pundit. Nissa Darbonne covers shale plays and other segments of the O&G industry for OilandGasInvestor.com. Her pieces are insightful and well written. However, when she places her tongue in her cheek she can be pretty wicked. And entertaining. Hope you enjoy. PS. Neither O&G Investor, Ms. Darbonne or the Somali Pirates are endorsed by GHS.
SONRIS is working for me now Skip....

Just in time for lunch.
Yep, me too. Just finished the update to my Chronology of the Early HS Play blog. Had to check some data to make sure the new post was accurate.
Skip,

Are you retired or just way to rich?
No, Henry. But I'd like to be. Got any suggestions? Land work may get the retirement part done but not the other. SONRIS was down most of the morning and I could not do much of the work I had scheduled for today, I thought a little levity might be appreciated. Guess not. It's just you and me on this thread.
I appreciate you Skip.

I am retired now but not rich.

I hope to be richer if this Haynesville shale thing gets its act together, but I'm wondering if I'll live to see it.
Henry. The next 6 to 9 months will tell the tale. I have to get pretty creative to help some of my clients. It helps to think outside the box sometimes.
I own property in three sections. Two of the sections have a well drilled waiting to be frac. I'm not sure if or when they will frac them. I doubt if I will live long enough to see all of the potential wells drilled.
Hello guy's and gals,

Well, that sounds like the going rate doesnt it, 25% royalty. $100,000,000 X 25% = $25,000,000. Yep , thats what I thought.
I know ... let's get CPK to issue them one of those bank drafts!
Would it be unethical to do a bunch of pirates like that ?
I mean, how much more bad press could they handle.......CHPK that is.
Maybe CPK is secretly funding the pirates. Hey, did you notice the pirates don't ask for any kind of bonus payment?

Mr. Stewart - unethical? Hey, even pirates have their own brand of ethics. They hold your property hostage and make you jump through hoops to get it back ... wait ... nah, I won't say it.
