If I wanted to find out about past and current activity by county, does anyone have a link I can go to? I had some trouble maneuvering through the Arkansas website.

(This posted from an email I received earlier this afternoon 9-28-09)
Dear South Arkansas Joint Venture Lessor:
We would like to meet with our South Arkansas Joint Venture Lessors to provide an update on the prospect. We will not be giving the usual presentation to educate mineral owners, as this meeting is to inform our current Lessors on the prospect status.
The two meetings are scheduled for Monday, October 5th, 2009.
Meeting times are:
Lewisville - Baptist Church just off courthouse square at 10:00 AM
Taylor- Taylor High School School Auditorium at 4:30 PM
We look forward to seeing you then.

Is anyone involved in the Fayetteville shale play? Particularly Fayetteville central? The B.L.M. and seeco have entered an agreement in which seeco gets exclusive exploration and extraction rights in a newly created unitization plan covering 186,000+ acres with 87% being forrest service land. seeco asks private landowners to join the unit and that decision is my struggle right now.

So, are we out of the running as far as drilling opportunities? It appears that the info channels have slowed to a crawl. What is going on around Union County/Southern Arkansas, these days?

Does anyone have a clue whether or not the mid-Bossier shale exists in these parts? If so, then Encana's announcement should be interest.

I see where EOG has a legal notice in the Texarkana paper asking for a wildcat unit for a 11,000 foot test in Sec. 24-19S-25W, which is in southwest Lafayette County. They want to drill a lateral 3,500 feet. Could this be the start of something? Someone told me that they have leased over 30,000 acres in Lafayette and Columbia counties.

So, what's going on in South Arkansas, these days? It appears there is some movement in the extreme northern parishes of Louisiana (Claiborne and Lincoln). Let's reactivate this board, and get some dialogue going, shall we?

So, what's going on in and around Union County these days?

I realize that the downturn in the national economy has put a damper on capex spending, and the nationals are regrouping in anticipation of better things to come in these parts in terms of oil and gas exploration. I believe they will fill the gap that has been left by the cash-strapped indies that dominated the initial activity.

Comments about Columbia County are welcome as well!

When i first joined Pickensplan I mentioned the fact that there was an empty factory building, just outside of Jonesboro AR., that I thought would make an excellant place to make turbine engines and such for the wind mills. Well, that factory was purchased by a company that makes wet wipes. Amasingly though, the next week the news reported that a new building was being built to make the wind turbines for the wind mills !! Am I brillant, or what ?.....lol
