New permit today from Chesapeake in NW Shelby County.

I'm happy to see this one permitted up in the NW section of Shelby County just so all of the new activity isn't all heading down into County-Line/Southern Shelby, San Augustine & Nagadoches.

This one, along with Devon's Whitton, Devon's Adams 1-H, etc will help continue to prove the North and Western boundries of the Haynesville and Bossier for the region.

Now if we could only see some more permits heading down into Sabine County to help prove up that area as well....
D. Gaar, this well should make several people happy. It's the Burk Royalty-Smith #1 (vertical-unperfed completion) unit. I don't know if they are going to drill a new hole or finish the Burk hole horizontally. Maybe we'll figure it out when the permit is approved.
Yeah, I figured that the land held by Burk would be part of this.

The P-12 currently shows only 156+ acres listed but the Unit is designated as 703+.

In the Platt, however it lists the mineral owners for that 156+ but then also mentions "+547 Acres"....

I imagine that those missing "+547 Acres" will be the folks that were in that original Burke unit.

Good news for them indeed to now have this taken over by a company capable of producing a decent horizontal completion rather than being stuck with a shallow Burke well.
This isn't mapped yet on the TRRC website, but in review the location plot it looks like this CHK well will be directly underneath Devon's Adams-1H that is currently drilling in the Nelson Howell Survey.

Lateral looks to be at 5,000'

Looks like they are also taking advantage of the spacing regulation in that new Carthage (Haynesville) field designation as the lateral is positioned at exactly 330' spacing from the Western lease line.

Devon's Adams 1-H, for comparison, would be directly above this one but is permitted in the N.Carthage/Bossier Field with the nearest lease-line at 570'.
Here's a photo of Trinidad's #107 rig, which is currently drilling CHK's Smith 1-H well in NW Shelby Co. Texas. Photo was taken last Wed 5/12....

It seems to me to be a stretch to call this the NW section of Shelby County. I would call it West Central Shelby county as the Smith 1-H well looks to be as close or closer to Center than it is to Timpson. If we get a permit in the area of the Bowlin A-49 or the Bradley A-45, I'll call that Northwest Shelby County. Just my opinion.
