"Depth is the major impediment as far as I'm concerned. The highest resistivities seem to be in this area and may be a prime target in time. The Major well was up dip of the Tusc sands but down dip of the shelf. This area…"
"Speaking strictly about geology, why would someone not drill the TMS high resistivity section in Pointe Coupee, for instance? This would be down dip of the shelf, but up dip of the Tusc Sands that were drilled for gas in the…"
"TX isn't LA, and the Eagle Ford isn't the TMS. So why would anyone think that the Austin Chalk would be produced the same way in two different locations. They could be similar or vastly different reservoirs in terms of production. Time…"
"CHK was taken to the woodshed not because of their approach but because of a stock pump and dump scheme. As far as data goes, APC has UPRC's data on the LaCour property and wells drilled in the early 90's. That said, I would…"
"There is no doubt that O&G are present. If it were that easily exploited, it would have been converted to CO2 + H2O a long time ago. I would be surprised if APC simply packed up and went elsewhere after leasing all this…"
While reading this thread, I couldn't but be reminded of Faulkner's "The Sound and the Fury."
His masterpiece obviously works on many levels, but let's hope that the AC and TMS plays don't become victims…"

Is the problem technical or simply economic? In other words, why would APC make these mistakes 20 years after UPRC and others came to the area, especially after APC aquired UPRC and their data? There are all types of…"
"Joe and other members,
I have heard locally that they may inject gas into the well. These is also talk of a pumper unit. Take a look at Kirk Barrell's two most recent posts on his Tusc Trend blog (Austin Chalk - Yield; Production…"
Leasing in Pointe Coupee that I know of is for (a) Austin Chalk and (b) Tuscaloosa Trend, but not Tuscaloosa Marine Shale (or TMS). TMS is probably found across the upper part of Pointe Coupee. But then who knows just what the leasing company intends? They may say one thing and be thinking of something altogether different, they play their cards close to the chest.
As exciting as this is, we know that we have a responsibility to do this thing correctly. After all, we want the farm to remain a place where the family can gather for another 80 years and beyond. This site was born out of these desires. Before we started this site, googling "shale' brought up little information. Certainly nothing that was useful as we negotiated a lease. Read More
